Vincent G. Valente, MFT

Since 2007, Vincent has provided therapy to individuals, couples and families, helping them restore their health, strengthen their relationships, and enjoy their lives.  From an early age, he was interested in philosophy, human behavior and the dynamics of relationships.  Unsatisfied with traditional models of therapy, Vincent searched for a way to help people overcome challenges quickly and effectively.  Using Brief Strategic Therapy, Vincent has shown that one need not endure years of suffering or spend an enormous amount of money to find lasting solutions – even to life’s most difficult problems.  Instead, it is possible for one to swiftly dissolve their prison walls of suffering and step forward onto their paths of wholeness, health and happiness.

Vincent is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from San Diego State University and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara.  He has been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which he uses to help his clients quickly work through trauma to regain wholeness.

Vincent is a Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher who teaches classes regularly at Iyengar Yoga Kauai in Koloa.  He has published research on yoga and psychotherapy (The Impact of Yoga on the Personal and Professional Life of the Psychotherapist & Prescribing Yoga to Supplement and Support Psychotherapy) and, depending on client interest and applicability, utilizes yogic techniques to supplement psychotherapy treatment.  For several years, Vincent worked as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, recognized through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  He lives in Kalaheo with his spouse and their son and enjoys bodysurfing, mountain biking, and hiking in his free time.
